Largest contract for Cantata

25/02/2015

After an evaluation phase lasting several months, the decision has now been made: Robert Bosch GmbH will invest in Cantata. The dynamic source-code analysis tool beat out several competitors.

In the decision for Cantata, both the functionality and the efficiency of the tool played a large role – Cantata allows work to be automated to a very great extent. Cantata also lends itself very well to the Eclipse development environment. In addition, the tool complies with important safety standards, including ISO 26262, DO-178B, IEC 61508, and others. The fact that the manufacturer, QA Systems, is in a position to offer qualified local support made the decision for Cantata easier.

A requirement analysis with the client, Bosch, estimates that up to 1,000 licenses will need to be acquired for the group in the mid- to long-term. “This is the largest single contract in the history of our company,” said Andreas Sczepansky, managing director of QA Systems GmbH, which is based in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen.

Cantata automates and manages complex tasks during the testing of applications that are critical to safety. The tool for dynamic source-code analysis is certified as being “suitable for the development of safety-relevant software”. The automation includes the generation of the entire testing environment, the instrumentation of the code coverage analyses, and the generation of a test-case framework and the execution of test cases. Cantata is available for the entire Eclipse development environment, “built-on”, and as a set with “Eclipse-ready plug-ins”.
